KRS (Brindavan Gardens)
KRS (Brindavan Gardens) is an adjoining park beside the KRS Dam. Krishna Raja Sagara (KRS) Reservoir is around 21 kms from Mysore as shown below. The Dam was built on the Cauvery river and is in Mandya district of Karnataka in 1924. Construction of the garden was started in the year 1927 and completed in 1932. It is one of the major tourist attractions near the city of Mysore. It is visited by nearly 2million tourists per year.

History of Brindavan gardens
This garden was built under the able guidence of Sir Mirza Ismail. He was the Devan of Mysore. Devan is the chief financial officer. He conceived a plan of developing a garden in Mughal style. The design of this garden is similar to Shalimar Gardens in Kashmir. This was constructed in a terraced fashion. It was named Krishnarajendra Terrace Garden. The main architect of this park was G. H. Krumbigal.
Brindavan gardens is a must visit for every traveler. It is maintained by the Cauvery Niravari Nigama (Cauvery Irrigation Department). It has an area of 60 acres. Adjoining to the garden, there is a fruit archard(75 acres), Chandravana(5 acres) and Nagavana( 30 acres).
Musical fountain is the main attraction of the garden. In this fountain bursts of water are syncrhronised to the music of songs. There is a lake in the garden. It provides boating facilities to the visitors.
The garden is open to general public. An entry fee is charged.
Garden Timings: All Week Days: 6.00am to 8.00pm
Musical Fountain Show:
All Week Days: 6.30pm to 7.30pm
Saturdays and Sundays: 6.30pm to 8.30pm
Admission Fees: Admission is free for the children below the age of 5.
